Our 2026 Movies Under The Stars outdoor screening series hits its penultimate entry with the first chapter of Peter Jackson’s towering Lord of the Rings saga!

The future of civilization rests in the fate of the One Ring, which has been lost for centuries. Powerful forces are unrelenting in their search for it. But fate has placed it in the hands of a young Hobbit named Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), who inherits the Ring and steps into legend. A daunting task lies ahead for Frodo when he becomes the Ring-bearer – to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom where it was forged.

Please note this event takes place on the lawn outside the Ijams Visitor Center, NOT at Central Cinema! Gates open at 7pm and the movie will start at sundown, giving you plenty of time to take advantage of food trucks, a beer tent and the expanse of trails & exhibits that make Ijams Nature Center such a treasure. Tickets are just $12 per person; please bring a chair/blanket (and a leash for pups!) but no coolers or outside alcohol.
